Dear Sirs,

Dear old Georgie Louis Borges got it right, 70 years ago. The Peronistas were neither good nor bad, they were just incorrigible. As the present misgovernment does its best to suppress inflation, by endeavouring to control end-prices at supermarkets, whilst at the same time printing thousand peso bills at a furious rate of knots and ‘throwing the house out of the window,’ as the local saying has it, farce threatens to become a tragedy.

One month short of the forthcoming midterm congressional elections, the present authorities are desperate to reverse the recent adverse result of the primaries, and think ‘cash in the people’s pocket’ may do the trick. Meanwhile, inflation last month panned out at 3.5 percent, one whole percentage point up on the previous month. A grim portent!

Keep your heads down, the boys in charge are playing hardball, now, and they know where your grandkids go to school.
