LOOKING AT THEIR NAVEL

With Russia massing troops on the Ukrainian border, China looking aggressively towards Taiwan, and Putin and Xi giving mutual signs of support, plus an indecisive Biden in the United States, it would seem that the world is approaching the most dangerous moment it has witnessed since the 1962 Cuban missiles crisis headed by Kruschev and JFK.

Under these circumstances, and with so many years of decadence behind it, the weight of Argentina in international affairs has been reduced to nil. We really couldn’t be worse off because, to add to our woes, we have an indecent and totally ignorant government whose members spend the days looking at their navels, without a clue of how to manage the country in the world that surrounds it. Right now, Albert the Small is preparing for a trip to Moscow and Beijing which, given the circumstances, is equivalent to slapping the United States and its NATO allies in the face. And at the same time our foreign minister is up in the States, on a begging mission regarding our debt with the International Monetary Fund. Not incongruous, imbecilic is the word!

That we are approaching the precipice at a pretty good speed is obvious. So, dear reader, all I can do today is to advise you to put on your safety belt and hang on for dear life, because: “It’s the Republic, darn it ..... and at the end of the day, God wishing, it will prevail!”
